A few months ago I got flu symptoms.

I did what I generally do which is to load up on Vit C, D and zinc. But it didn’t seem to make a dent. I decided that this was one of those times when I needed a couple of day’s rest.

So I rested up over the weekend. My energy levels continued going down, and soon I was resting more while still doing all my daily activities. My appetite was also zero. AND I didn’t even want my delicious coffee!

Then one night I was feeling extremely nauseous, wanting to vomit, no sleep and feeling generally very blah. I still thought this was long flu.

The next morning, I experienced really sore guts. Which continued for a few days – but it wasn’t a pain level 10 where one wants to call 911… it just stayed at medium.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I had just experienced a burst appendicitis🙀!

It never occurred to me that this was what it was. And it never occurred to me either that I should visit a doctor! From what everyone was telling me, I must have a high pain threshold, but really, it wasn’t unbearable.

Is ignorance bliss? 🤷‍♀️

Well, I just treated myself with various modalities, including asking my upstairs team to help heal whatever was going on. And I truly think they listened and responded.

It became mildly better, but I continued to feel blah. I did carry on with my normal activities. I’m a very busy girl, so busy it was.

After about a month of this, I decided to visit my homoeopath. I asked him whether he was the chap I should see or if I should go to a doctor. After lots of questions, prodding me gently and looking into my eyes (iridology) Anton said he really didn’t like what he was getting but that he would give me 3 days to radically improve and then otherwise it was off to the doctor for scans.

He knew I was of the mindset “I don’t do normal doctors” – just don’t be like me… I have learned a lot in this journey 😊

My condition did improve radically. And I really was feeling a lot better. After following up with me after the 3 days, he still insisted I go see the doctor.

Well, that was another whole doctor journey in itself (which I won’t go into now), with another week going by. I may expand on that later.

The short story… After a yoga class, I finally went to the scan place, walked in and said I was told that I needed an ultrasound. They could see me in half an hour if I wanted to wait as they’d just had a cancellation. So yes I would wait.

More short story, I also needed a CT scan.

Finally I was advised to go and see an abdomen specialist who gave me options to follow – because there were still no clear results in both scans of what was going on – to which I just said “well then you better just go in, cut and see”.

And so 6 weeks after experiencing the burst appendicitis, the following week I was scheduled to have the op. They even called me sooner and said that they had a cancellation a few days earlier and did I want to take that date.

I didn’t… I had stuff to catch up with.

After the op, my surgeon said that he was relieved the tests came back saying it wasn’t cancer. Instead, the appendix had burst into the inner muscle, and an abscess had formed around it, containing it. He had to dig deep into the muscle to remove and clean the sepsis and whatever else.

And that’s my story. Today is 3 months after the op, and I’m finally feeling much like my old self. I’m very grateful for all the amazing support I’ve received from expected and unexpected people… thank you🙏

Next I’ll tell you what I’ve learned through all this and my take-aways.
